The nanoHUB is a web-based initiative spearheaded by the NSF-funded Network for Computational Nanotechnology (NCN) based at Purdue University. The NCN has a vision to pioneer the development of nanotechnology from science to manufacturing through innovative theory, exploratory simulation, and novel cyberinfrastructure. NanoHub provides a web interface to numerous resources relevant to students and practitioners in nanotechnology. The cyber environment includes on-line courses and tutorials, proceedings of seminars, collaborative tools, access to the primary literature, and an interface for on-line simulation. The latter puts research-grade software into the hands of new users around the world. This past year more than 1000 users have launched over 65,000 jobs using this interface.

Mike McLennan the NCN software architect will present the NCN and the nanoHUB services available to users. Sebastien Goasguen who leads the nanoHUB middleware work will present the architecture of the system supporting the nanoHUB. Renato Figueiredo from University of Florida will present the basic principles of In-IGO the middleware at the core of the nanoHUB and how it uses virtualization technologies. Alain Roy from University of Wisconsin-Madison will show how Condor was integrated in the nanoHUB middleware to gain access to TeraGrid and Open Science Grid resources. Finally Dongyan Xu from Purdue University will present some work on virtual networking that has enabled the deployment of a virtual cluster for the nanoHUB users.

The Cyberinfrastructure Seminar Series is a set of presentations on cyberinfrastructure and related research organized by NCSA and SDSC. These seminars are available on site at the presenting institution and remotely via the Access Grid. All Access Grid sites are welcome to participate in this seminar. If you have any questions about this seminar, contact the NCSA Training Group.
