Navigon no longer in U.S. March 10, 2010 Please note that if you buy anything Navigon, you will be on your own. Navigon has abandoned the U.S. market and no longer has phone tech support. As for warranty support, I don't know, but I feel I can safely say the same because you have to contact them via their website for anything. I've written several e-mails via their website in a 2 month period and never got a response. It's too bad because their units are nice. If you want a nav unit, go with Garmin because they have a solid presence in the U.S. I can't say I recommend TomTom because I had a unit and had several problems with their software that never got resolved. Do they still have problems ? I don't know, but I'm not willing to try another unit to find out. I've been to Best Buy to look at Garmin and the rep stated it was definitely the best.
Im sold on GPS December 11, 2009 I never really thought I needed a GPS, especially when I needed to justify spending money for such a device. After getting this GPS, I'm sold. I haven't had much experience with other GPS devices but this one seems to be top of the line. Its easy to use for a beginner. My girlfriend has one from another brand that I have used and it isn't nearly as good as this one.
This thing is so helpful. I love how accurate the maps are and how accurate each turn is. It always knows exactly where I need to turn and tells me so that there's no confusion. A lot of times there are 2 roads close together and I may be unsure which one to take, especially if I used my girlfriend's GPS. This Navigon always makes it clear which one I need to take. The same goes for on the highway and which exit and even which lane to be in as you pass merging highways! I was on a recently renamed highway and even though the highway name was incorrect, every turn and lane change was still exact and got me to my destination with ease. It also helped me change lanes to switch between highways over a congested bridge just by listening to it. There was way too much to watch for so I couldn't look at the GPS. So it was very helpful that the GPS and voice were so accurate.
I highly recommend this Navigon and would do so to my family and friends.
Beware, Navigon has left the GPS business, and their customers November 11, 2009 I bought my Navigon a little over a year ago. It's performance has been mixed, in line with much of the reviews here, but I've generally been happy with it.
However, I can unequivocally state that you should NOT buy this product. Navigon has abruptly left the North American market, leaving customers, even those who purchased a device and map updates within the year, almost completely without support. If you buy one of these, you're buying a dead device with no hope of updates.
navi October 24, 2009 Piece of junk. It broke 3 times and now they won't fix it. NOt a good model. Cheaply built. Spend the money and get the more expensive one. That's what I did.
GPS reliabability October 9, 2009 We purchased this GPS unit based on reviews and price. But we were not impressed when put to the road test. The route it took us to get to the turnpike was complicated and confusing. Plugging in new destinations or different trip parameters seemed equally complicated. On the whole, this GPS did not seem to be at all intuitive in its use as compared to a Garmin I had previously. It got to the point that I wanted to consult an old fashioned map before relying on the GPS directions. I would not recommend this model to anyone.
