Time Your Swim
The swim-proof Forerunner 310XT is waterproof to a depth of 50 meters, so you can wear it in the pool or the lake to time your swim. And its slim design and flexible wristband mean Forerunner is easy to wear in any conditions.

Transition Effortlessly
When you're ready to jump out of the water and onto the bike, Forerunner 310XT moves easily from wrist to bike with the optional quick release and bike mounts, making the transition between sports effortless. Forerunner 310XT categorizes multisport activities in one workout and can also log transition time in the process, so you can analyze your performance from start to finish.

Collect Workout Data
Forerunner 310XT tracks your position precisely with GPS satellite data and records distance, pace, heart rate (optional), power data (from ANT+-enabled third-party power meters) and more. High-sensitivity GPS and HotFix satellite prediction mean Forerunner acquires satellites quickly and tracks your movement even near tall buildings or under tree cover. And using innovative ANT+ wireless technology, Forerunner 310XT connects seamlessly to an optional heart rate monitor, foot pod and cadence sensor.

Heart Rate Monitor Bundle
This bundle includes the optional wireless heart rate monitor. Forerunner 310XT continuously tracks beats per minute and uses heart rate data in advanced calorie computation. Train in a certain heart rate zone to improve fitness and monitor your level of exertion.

Run, Sync, Store and Share
Once you've logged the miles, innovative ANT+ wireless technology automatically transfers data to your computer when Forerunner is in range. No cables, no hookups. The data's just there, ready for you to analyze, categorize and share through our online community, Garmin Connect or our optional Garmin Training Center software. You can even plan workouts on your computer and then send them to your Forerunner.

3 out of 5 stars Best Triathlete GPS available   September 3, 2010
... of course it is also the only one that many people can use throughout a full triathlon. Overall, I think this is an excellent product, but I agree with some of the others here that Garmin hides the ball somewhat in its marketing/advertising.

First, this is the only waterproof GPS watch that I've seen and it also has the battery power to get you through a full Ironman. As such, I can put it on my wrist and not worry about it until the end of a race (with the exception of hitting the lap button to change events/transitions). The multi-sport function that lets you set up the watch for triathlons, duathlons, brick workouts, etc. with or without transitions is fantastic. For me, this makes it great and the best solution available.

I do find the distance calculations for swimming absolutely ridiculous. As far as I can tell, swinging your arms for every stroke is what throws the watch off so much... interesting that it seems to be a problem based on it being too accurate. I've done a 3000 yd pool swim to find a claimed distance of over 3.2 miles. I do think Garmin should include a "Swim" function that just turns off the gps if they can't figure out a way to combat this problem... generally you know your distance in a pool or in a race, so the biggest interest (at least for me) is the timing of the swim.

Someone here said that biking with it on his/her wrist doesn't work, and I have never run into an issue with that at all. I find it works perfectly during biking, running, hiking, etc.

I will say that the price here seems too high. I've seen it for less.

Overall a very good product that people just need to understand has some limitations.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Training Tool!   September 1, 2010
I have had my unit for less than 24 hours - In the first 15 minutes I easily setup up the watch & paired the heart rate monitor. After work, I went running with the new Forerunner unit. It was EASY to use and READ throughout my run. Early this morning I setup the ANT+ which easiliy paired with the unit. I uploaded the history and route to the [...] website with a simple click. Then I stared in amazement at the recorded details of my run with pace, elevation changes, the exact route, HR zones, etc. I can highly recomment this product! Now that I have this excellent technology, the only hard part that remains is the work of actually burning up the trails!

4 out of 5 stars As I expected!!!   August 24, 2010
This a very good equipment to follow the athletes on their trainings and races! Easy to start using, but at the same time, a few difficult to set the screens and to get connection with PC.
Nice acquisition!

kind of big but works great. wasn't sure the gps map was going to work in other countries completely, but it still showed exact path.

2 out of 5 stars Fantastic watch...when it works   July 29, 2010

This watch is a great training tool and a fun toy. The problem is that it fails to work as advertised way too often. I've had difficulties transferring data from the watch to my computer on more than one occasion and it always seems to happen after a race or a long training day (exactly when you want the data most). The customer support at Garmin is terrible, which makes correcting whatever new problem arises miserable.

Be prepared to wait long periods of time for customer service support to get this watch working properly if you buy it.
